Who We Are

A well-trained, enthusiastic staff is the key to a positive camping experience for your child. YMCA Camp staff members are dedicated to providing a safe and wholesome environment for each camper. Camp counselors are chosen for their maturity, strong values, enthusiasm and ability to be positive role models for children. All staff members undergo extensive nine day training prior to the camp season, emphasizing safety, child growth and development, group dynamics, and much more. Criminal history and reference checks are completed on all staff and volunteers. The entire staff is certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, certified lifeguards supervise all aquatic activities, and our Camp Director is a certified EMT and our camp nurse lives in camp and is available 24-hours a day. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:6 for Mini Camp and 1:8 for all other camps. Every child's safety and well-being is our primary concern!

Our beliefs

We believe in the transformative power of camp - Simply put, Camp changes lives.  Campers and staff develop lifelong friendships and memories here every summer.

We believe that the normal is absurd and that the absurd is normal - Some may look at our camp traditions as absurd.  Turn on the news and you see examples of how the world treats each other.  We think that is absurd!  At camp it is normal to treat each other with love, respect, caring, honesty and responsibility...and, to sing songs with a mouth full of marshmallows.  Camp is an example of how the world could/should be...and we're proud of this!

We believe that everyone belongs at Y-Camp - Every person has value and deserves to be loved and accepted for who they are.  We often describe ourselves as a "camp family" as there is a bond formed here that is unique. The fact that we get to be on this lake, with these people, is what sets Lake Wenatchee YMCA Camp apart.

Camp is for all

Rules for acceptance and participation are the same for everyone regardless of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religious affiliation, immigration status, ability or national origin. Tribal Land Recognition

The Wenatchee Valley YMCA (Y) strives to promote for all people a community of recognition, inclusion, and respect. The Y operates upon and serves the communities enriched by the traditional lands of the P’squosa people (known as the Wenatchi during treaty negotiations). We make this acknowledgement in hopes of developing genuine relationships with the P’squosa people and to recognize and express gratitude to the P’squosa ancestors, the first inhabitants and stewards of the Wenatchee Valley for their foresight in caring for and respecting the land and waterways.
