More than just a job
Benefits to Working at Camp
Build your Skills!
In a 2019 study ninety-five percent of responding staff members reported that working at camp helped them improve critical personal and professional skills that will be assets in their future careers. Both anecdotally and qualitatively, significant improvement was cited, most notably in the areas of leadership and initiative, followed closely by problem-solving, communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making.
“My position at camp has given me more responsibilities than any other job would trust me with, and it has allowed me to show myself and others that I can be and am accountable.”
“Camp has taught me to engage a group, solve complex problems in a short amount of time, and enjoy conquering challenges.”
“Working at camp has given me confidence to speak to my superiors. When I interview for jobs, I’m not afraid of my interviewer because of all the confidence I’ve built.”
“At camp I was able to see myself become the best possible version of me.”
These direct staff quotes validate our premise that working at camp is likely one of the most life-impacting internships in the world.

What to Expect at Camp
Cabin Leaders live in cabins with 5-8 campers, and spend much of their day with that group. Throughout each one-week session, cabin leaders act as mentors, teachers, and role models for campers and have unbelievable opportunities to have a positive impact on campers’ lives. Program, kitchen and maintenance staff, will also live in a cabin assisting cabin leaders with with the campers where possible and serving as a second adult in the cabin at night. In addition to working in their assigned job all staff may spend some time working in other areas of camp such as running one of the program areas, which may include life guarding, archery, or working in the kitchen and helping with routine cleaning around camp. All staff members work six days each week, with a break from Friday evening until Sunday morning. Each day staff will have scheduled time off and our goal is to give each person 2 hours each day.
The Camp Facilities & Site
Camp is a rustic living environment, with several modern conveniences. Most cabins sleep 8 people and have electric lights. While all cabins have windows and doors, small critters will likely visit from time to time. Showers and restrooms are centrally located in our main lodge with additional Showers and restrooms located in the Outdoor Environmental Education Building. Camp has a somewhat rugged and hilly terrain, with temperatures in the summer ranging from 40 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
